| In the early days of their career, BTS found themselves unable to go on popular variety shows because they came from a small and poor company. When they did go on them, they were often belittled and made to feel less than other artists. As a result, BTS started their own shows first starting with Bokbulbok episodes where they played some games in their practise rooms. This then moved onto Gayo episodes BTS Gayo is a 15-episode, two-season variety show (2015–2017) where the group plays K-pop-themed games, challenges, and quizzes. Episodes focus on music-related activities, including dance battles, karaokes, acting out K-drama scenes, and guessing songs, often involving teams, punishment, and chaotic, humorous moments. Run BTS! premiered in 2015 as a way to provide fans with consistent, entertaining content outside of music promotions. The show was created to strengthen the group’s connection with their fandom, ARMY, by showcasing the members’ personalities through games, challenges, role-playing scenarios, and special themed episodes. Over the years, Run BTS! released more than 150 episodes, becoming one of the group’s longest-running original content series before going on hiatus in 2022 as the members began focusing on individual activities. The program had a significant cultural impact, generating countless viral moments, memes, and inside jokes within the fandom, while further solidifying BTS’s reputation not only as global music artists but also as engaging and relatable entertainers. When Jin discharged from Military service in June 2024 he re started the Run episodes now titled Run Jin. Jin produced and starred in Run Jin (2024–2025) primarily to connect with fans (ARMY) immediately following his military discharge, aiming to give back and show his appreciation. As the first BTS member to return, he created the 36-episode variety show to fill the void, showcase his personality, and provide entertainment, even self-funding part of it. |
