Place: born in Gwangju, South Korea

Joined: 3rd to join aged 16 and moved into the dorm 24th December 2010

Role:  He is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer in the  South Korean boy band BTS (Bangtan Sonyeodan – 방탄소년단  also known as the Bangtan Boys or Bullet Proof Boy Scouts. At debut he was introduced as lead Rapper, Main Dancer and sub vocalist

Pre Debut

Prior to joining Big Hit JHope lived in Gwangju where he took an interest in dance and he enrolled in Gwangju Music Academy where he learned dance. He was involved in the underground dance scene and was a part of a dance crew called Neuron. JHope developed a reputation for his dance which led to him auditioning for Big Hit where he was accepted and put onto the training program there. He originally did not know how to rap but learned once he joined Big Hit – he eventually debuted as Lead rapper, Main dancer and sub vocalist. Even before debut JHope started to write songs and he is one of the listed writers of  “Animal” (Radio Edit) by Jo Kwon. Before they debuted, JHope said that he left for a short while but returned quickly because he wanted to continue with the team and see how high they could go.

Debut

On 5th June 2013 JHope was officially introduced as a member of BTS. Along with the other members JHope officially debuted on 13th June 2013. Though JHope was officially introduced to the world as a member as BTS on 5th June 2013, he was already quite active on social media and he uploaded numerous logs with the other members. JHope quickly established himself as the unofficial dance leader in that he would learn the choreography before the team and then help them to practise and learn it in the absence of the choreographers. When the members made a mistake, they would quickly look to JHope to help them.
